Mt Barker Client Service Centre Opening

Clients, families, local business representatives, staff and community supporters came together last week on Friday the 6th of March to witness the official opening of the Mt Barker Client Service Centre by CLASS' Patron His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AO, Governor of South Australia.

Located at 8 Stephens Street Mt Barker, the purposely renovated centre is a hub for people living with disability in the Adelaide Hills to learn critical life skills, engage in the local community and foster enduring friendships.
His Excellency gave an address on the day speaking of the particular barriers and challenges people living with disability in regional areas face such as; limited local services, higher incidents of social isolation, a significant lack of accessible transport and required services located outside of the region, or often only provided in an outreach capacity.

His Excellency then went on to speak about how CLASS and the new Client Service Centre would contribute to lowering these barriers and provide the inclusive and fulfilling lifestyle that people living with disability deserve. Stating that "I understand that this new building will deliver significant improvements to the delivery of services, enable robust collaboration with other community partners and provide a dynamic workspace where people can share and implement initiatives that will enhance outcomes for clients."

George Rowe, a client of CLASS, gave witness to this by giving a confident and humorous account on the day in regards to what the new service centre meant to him and the personal benefit he had received from it. George spoke of the state of the art facilities, the additional space it offered and the overall increased level of comfort the new service centre provides him.

CLASS would like to take the opportunity to particularly thank the landlord, Kym Nitschke who worked tirelessly and fitted out the premises to our specific needs as well as everyone who attended on the day.
