Country Cottage Collections Celebrates its 1st Birthday!
Written on the 30 November 2016
Thursday 24 November marked the celebration of the 1st birthday of Country Cottage Collections, a unique and welcoming shop operated by a number of our clients at Community Living Australia. Established by people living with various types of disability, our team at Country Cottage Collections provide training in successfully running the shop, including managing finances, promoting and marketing a business and engaging with customers.
The idea for Country Cottage Collections was launched in the second half of 2015 after input from staff was gained around possible programs we could be running to give our entrepreneurial clients the opportunity to learn new skills and operate a business.
Country Cottage Collections opens its doors every Thursday from 11:00am-2:00pm, selling everything from paintings, soft toys, small home décor, collectables, plants, and books to unique items made by our Day Options clients as they participate in other exciting programs!
In recent times, many developments have been made as the team have strived to adopt a more professional appearance, improve the shop's signage, increase advertisement and introduce a frequent shopper card. Country Cottage Collections is now seeing more customers than ever, particularly as the weather warms.
The development in our clients as well as the shop itself, is nothing short of exceptional and we credit them all for establishing their own legitimate micro enterprise. Future plans for Country Cottage Collections include accessing an appropriate commercial kitchen in the hopes of producing and beginning to sell some home-made goods!
At Community Living Australia, we take great pride in success stories such as this one, made possible by the passion, determination and entrepreneurial spirit of our clients and staff, and we look forward to supporting our clients at Country Cottage Collections to achieve their goals in years to come.
