Christmas Where the Angas Flows!
Written on the 20 December 2016
On Friday evening December 16, a number of our clients and staff from the Strathalbyn and Adelaide Hills area were happily involved in the 2016 Strathalbyn Christmas Pageant, part of the "Christmas Where the Angas Flows" celebration.
This year's event attracted a huge number of spectators, who eagerly lined the streets of Strathalbyn, ready to cheer on all the floats which were entered in this year's pageant. Other celebrations throughout the evening included musical entertainment, food and merchandise, rides and a spectacular fireworks display sponsored by LJ Hooker.
Our float "The Little Drummer Boy" was as popular as ever, being quickly recognised and pointed out by numerous parents and their children with many members of the community providing feedback that it was one of the pageant's highlights. "The local children and families appear to love him, as well as our clients and it is great to be able to contribute towards and to support great community events like the pageant," said Bill Rowe, Chairman of Community Living Australia. "We would also like to congratulate the other pageant entries on putting together some truly outstanding floats," added Mr Rowe.
Our exceptional volunteers, comprised of staff, clients, and local community members Brian Eatts and Kieren Fitzgerald, had a fantastic experience in being part of the inclusive community event. "Our focus is to support our clients to live in and be active members of their local communities and the Drummer Boy is one way we can achieve this. We are grateful to have been given such a generous donation by the Aberdeen Heights Real Estate Group and we must thank both Brian and Kieran for their tremendous amount of support," said Mark Kulinski, Chief Executive of Community Living Australia.
We would like to acknowledge all of the organisers the Alexandrina Council, Strathalbyn Lakes and Tourism Association, the Strathalbyn Inter-Church Council and all of the sponsors and volunteers for once again putting on this great annual community event. It was an honour as an organisation to be a part of the organising committee for the first time and we look forward to hopefully being involved for many years to come.
On behalf of our organisation we would like to extend very special thanks to the Strathalbyn Community for their wonderful support of the event, and to all of our volunteers for their help and efforts in ensuring "The Drummer Boy" was looking his best. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Finally we would like to thank our outstanding staff and clients for their whole-hearted participation in the event, not only with "The Drummer Boy", but also in marshalling the pageant to ensure it ran smoothly. You all represented yourselves and the organisation beautifully.
Season's Greetings to all!
